2011 Roubaix Expert SL3
Check our our post on the internal routed cables on the SL3…
Just arrived last week. The Expert comes out of the same SL3 mold as the S-Works only uses a different carbon layup and recipe. The similarities go as far as the Shimano Di2-ready internal cable routing; lending a clean look and easy-clean up after a typically wet Pacific Northwest ride. Internal cable routing usually gets a bad rap for difficulty of assembly/service – but this is one of the better bikes “out-of-the-box” and really shows Specialized’s attention to detail. It still requires a little extra attention to do it right, but the big red S has made it as easy as they can and I notice no real added drag on the shifting when done correctly.
The 2011 model gets redesigned Zertz elastomer inserts in the fork and seatstays which no longer “press-fit” or glue into the frame but are now mechanically attached. Also of note are the new Shimano in-line barrel adjusters for the shift lines. Very nice and effective enough to bear the Shimano name.
