Solo Ride

Hopefully this video from Specialized will motivate you to get out there a few more times before winter comes!

Sunset Cycles Customs

Looking at the 2012 dealer book and all the models that Specialized offers we had an idea. Without question Specialized makes some very cool well appointed complete bikes. They spend all year picking parts and going over specs to get a model to fit their idea of how that bikes should be . Of course our idea and your idea of how bike should be built up is not always going to agree with theirs. With this in mind we have decided to build our own line of Specialized Tarmac, Crux, Venge frames up. Our goal is to offer up something different from their stock line of bikes and build them in line with what are customers are asking for.

Here is the first bike up just in time for Cross Season. Painandsuffern is the first race on the calender and one we sponsor. Yes the paint scheme is a bit loud but isin’t that what Portland cross racing is all about?

This SCC #1 (Sunset Cycles Custom) comes in right at $2600 and is ready to race. For full spec list or more info stop by or shoot us a e-mail.

Smart Phones

During riding season we often see a few people a week that are having issues with their computers. Sometimes they are only intermittently working,  sometimes it just needs new battery’s. What most of these people have in common is they also carry their smart phone with them. There are tons of apps now to turn any smart phone into a excellent GPS enabled bike computer. Almost all of them will give you can get average speed, max speed, trip distance, calorie counters, elevation profiles and much more. I use the free version of  Cardio Trainer for my android phone and it gives me more info than I could ever want.

There are a number of company’s now that are making mounts for various phones. Here is one we just got in-stock and we will be getting a few other different styles in stock shortly. Stop by and check them out.

New Food Items-

A few new items from Hammer and Stinger……

 Endurolytes FIZZ- and Perpetuim Solids

“The quality and effectiveness that you’ve come to expect from Endurolytes and Perpetuim Solids (capsules and powder) in convenient, rapidly dissolving effervescent tablets. They are easy to carry, easy to portion out and even easier to store.”

Honey Stinger Organic Waffles make a great snack. Inspired by Lance Armstrong who suggested we produce our own version of similar waffles which are sold throughout Europe and eaten by professional cyclists. Honey Stinger Organic Waffles are the only product of their kind that’s certified organic and available in a single-serving wrapper. Made with USDA certified Organic ingredients”

Street of Dreams and a FREE BIKE!

Sunset Cycles will be a guest at the Street of Dreams on Bull Mountian this year. As our new location off Scholls Ferry is in close proximity to this area we thought it would be a great way to get out and meet our neighbors and give a great bike away at the same time.

We will be holding a drawing celebrating ‘Cycle to the Street’ day at this year’s Street of Dreams. Come by the Sunset Cycles tent and enter to win a Globe (Specialized) Daily 2; a $660 value. The winner will get to choose the size in either a step-through or traditional frame. The Daily captures the classic style of years gone by with  an 8-speed drive train and integrated fenders making it more practical for a diverse range of conditions.

In a secluded development on Bull Mountain in Tigard, Oregon, set among evergreen trees with views toward the Coast Range, the 2011 NW Natural Street of Dreams features five custom crafted homes that represent the mastery and vision of our best local builders and designers.

Given the opportunity to Reclaim the Dream, these five talented teams rose to the occasion and brought out the best ideas imaginable. All while keeping expenses reasonable for today’s recovering home market.

If you’ve been to other Shows, you’ll know the event is a fabulous showcase for building and design trends, the latest high-tech home innovations, creative landscaping and outdoor living…. And a great chance to wander, dream, explore and enjoy the many ideas and opportunities for life at its best in the Northwest.
